What to Expect

When you attend a weekend service at Flatland, we want you to feel like you're at home. The dress is very casual, and we even invite you to bring a cup of coffee or soda with you into the auditorium. The following is just a sampling of the unique character of our church.

Coming In
When you arrive at Flatland, you'll be greeted at the door and someone at our Information Booth in the Lobby will be glad to answer your questions or direct you where you wish to go. We have childcare and children's activities available at all of our weekend services. Be sure to stop by our coffee bar if you would like a freshly brewed cup of java.

Upon entering the auditorium, you can catch up on the latest news displayed on our video screen. We begin the service with a fun, upbeat song by our Worship Team, followed by a few important announcements.

The Message
Following the announcements, our Lead Pastor, Bart Wilkins, will share an interactive and inspiring message from the Bible. The Bible verses used in the message will be shown on the video screen; however, we encourage you to bring a Bible with you if you own one. (Let us know if you do not own a Bible. We would love to give you one.) We do our very best to make sure that everything taught at Flatland is in agreement with the Bible.

Response
Each week, the message brings us to a place of decision. "Will we worship and follow God, or not?" At this point in the service, our Worship Team leads us in a time of praise, worship and reflection. Although there is an occassional hymn or older chorus, we generally sing new songs in order to keep our faith and worship fresh and alive. It stretches us to grow and discover new aspects of God's attributes and character.

Communion
Communion is an important aspect of our faith. Communion Tables are set up for anyone to partake of communion on their own or with family and friends. During our time of response and worship, it is not uncommon to see several people move to our Communion Tables, take communion, and then return to their seats. Anyone is welcome to take communion with us, as long as you are a follower of Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose to life again. (Read 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.)

Offering
The ministry of Flatland Church is greatly enhanced by the generosity of its people. We encourage our regular attenders to give to aid the work of the ministry, and in return, our leadership is committed to using the offerings with wisdom and accountability. If you would like to give an offering, we have Offering Boxes available at each of our Communion Tables. There is also an Offering Box in the Lobby. Many people give their offerings during worship or following a service. We believe God blesses cheerful giving. (Read Malachi 3:10.)
