Grace Note 4/23

“When I consider your Heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

Psalm 8: 3-4

This past Christmas, I surprised Ashley and Lucy with a telescope for our family gift. (Thank you Amazon!) It’s not a fancy or expensive one, but a good starter for exploring the Moon, Big Dipper and Orion’s Belt from some 200,000 miles away. What we see on a clear night, however, is not new to God. Now, thanks to telescopes, satellites and advances in modern technology, Astronomers have uncovered more about God’s creation than ever before. The vastness of it all beckons both humility and worship. The same God who hung the moon, and stars in the sky also created us. He created you. It’s mystifying to think that He considers us His prized creations. Who are we that God is mindful of us? Who are we that He cares for the details of our lives?

We are His people. We are His children. We belong to Him.
